Editors arrived at the Empress Ballroom amongst a wave of expectation and performed a set that was unsurprisingly outstanding.
Support acts Mobius Band and Sons and Daughters warmed up the expectant crowd with two muscially satisfying sets and set the stage for one of the finest bands to come out of England for many years.
Led by their iconic frontman, Tom Smith, Editors began with the epic Camera which has been chosen to replace bones as the new set opener. The crowd then erupted as Editors blasted into the title track and second single from An End Has a Start. The theme continued with the energetic singles Blood and Bullets, both of which featured on the platinum selling debut album, The Back Room.
Track by track, Editors continued to encapsulate the capacity crowd at the Empress Ballroom. A pleasant surprise was the chilling cover of Lullaby by The Cure, which Editors made into their own with guitarist Chris Urbanowicz putting his trademark spikey guitar into an already amazing song.
Another highlight of the show was the beautiful, stripped down, acoustic performance of new single, Push your head towards the air. With Smith on acoustic guitar and bassist Russell Leetch on piano, the performance left the audience in awe of what a truly melodic song it really is.
Closing with the thunderous Smokers outside the hospital doors, Editors proved why they are the second biggest selling british band of the past two years and also that performing live is truly a scene that belongs to them.
